Axially operating mixing elements

Axially operating agitator elements are used when a powerful vertical circulation flow is required. This is the case for applications such as homogenization, for the suspension of solids, for the mixing-in of the solid through the liquid surface and in heat transfer. The various types of propellers have low power consumption and good pumping action. They generate little turbulence and shear and are therefore suitable for mixing sensitive materials.

Propellers are also used as side-entering agitators in large storage tanks. The axial turbine is a robust type of agitator. This type also provides a predominantly vertical flow in the tank, and is therefore suitable, for example, for the suspension of less sensitive materials and for the combination of suspension and gas dispersion.
